Electric Daisy Carnival to Return to Mexico in 2017

By TheMusicVibes

The Electric Daisy Carnival is a global electronic music festival series that is now the unquestioned number one festival for the genre. The festival has had successful runs in over a dozen cities, with New York and Las Vegas acting as the two flagships. Other U.S. cities that the festival has set up camp in include Orlando, Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles, in addition to the global cities of Mexico City, San Paulo, London, Tokyo, and New Delhi.

The festival will return to Mexico City in 2017 for its fourth time after not hosting one in 2016. EDC Mexico 2017 will be headlined by Hardwell, Major Lazer, Alison Wonderland, and The Chainsmokers. Slated to take place on Saturday February 25th and Sunday February 26th, the festival will be the country’s largest dance music festival.

The Chainsmokers are coming off a breakout year, as they became one of the most popular artists in the electronic dance music genre. Their hit single “Closer” reached #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts and has been certified as four-time platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The highlight of The Chainsmokers’ year has to be the group being nominated for three Grammy awards. The American DJ duo of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall will be up for Best New Artist, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Closer”, and Best Dance Recording for “Don’t Let Me Down.”

The Chainsmokers are also headlining the third-annual Electric Paradise Festival in the Dominican Republic. Additional headliners for this event include Armin van Buuren, DJ Snake, Marshmallow, and Zedd. Snoop Dogg is also scheduled to perform. In other EDC news, EDC New York has been cancelled while EDC Japan will make its debut in April.
