MAYFEST FESTIVAL RETURNS TO COLD SPRING, NY AND ANNOUNCES LINE UP

A Homegrown Hudson Valley Music, Art, & Yoga Festival

May 27-29, 2016

Catskill Chill Music Festival and SkyBaby Yoga & Pilates Studio announce their music & programing lineup forMAYfest; a Music, Arts, and Yoga festival planned for May 27-29, 2016 at Surprise Lake Camp in Cold Spring, NY. Highlights for this year include Trevor Hall, Turkuaz, a unique collaboration between Pink Talking Fishand American Idol contestant, Elise Testone, and the return of some high profile instructors like Sadie Nardini,Marti Nikko, and new to the festival – Elena Brower. This family friendly festival marks year two for co-producers Dave and Melia Marzollo.

Festival goers will immerse themselves into their yoga practice, their love for music and their desire to explore a creative side. MAYfest now offers 115 sessions plus open air community art activities and healing modalities. “MAYfesters” design their own experience by pre-registering for sessions online such as yoga and fitness classes, as well as health and wellness workshops, art classes, and children’s activities. There will be craft and food vending, free parking and camping, and cabin rentals for an additional fee.  

MUSIC

In addition to headliners listed above, MAYfest stages will also present sets by Ryan Montbleau, Gaura Vani, Ballroom Thieves, Will Evans, The Primate Fiasco, Mike & Ruthy, Funky Dawgz Brass Band, Hayley Jane & The Primates, Adam Bauer, Srikala, Tall County, and The Breakneck Boys. Sadie Nardini one of 2015’s headline yoga instructors, returns to MAYfest, as an instructor & artist. She will perform with her band, Salt & Bone on Saturday in addition to teaching two of her popular yoga classes.

ART

Exploring creativity, another theme of the weekend, is made possible by MAYfest’s partnership with the non-profit Garrison Art Center returning again this year. A collection of GAC artists will teach both adult and kid classes throughout the festival, giving MAYfesters a break from the more physical activities. Cathy Curto,Christina DiMarco, Emmett McLaughlin, Helen Michelsen, Jaanika Peekna, Justin Catania, Melissa Schlobohm, and Tracy Strong are just some of the teachers in this category. Renowned yoga photographer,Robert Sturman will be leading workshops where attendees learn to be both behind and in front of the lens. Attendees will also have the opportunity to book private lessons with this master of the photographic arts, allowing them to focus in on skill sets they wish to develop and learn about.

YOGA

MAYfest focuses on presenting the most current and highly regarded yoga instructors in the industry. This year’s list includes Raghunath, Sondra Loring, Justin Wolfer, John Smrtic, Kelly Kamm, Meg Allen, Katie Collins,Linda Winnick and many others from around the area. SkyBaby Studio’s own SkyBaby Restorative Rhythms Ensemble, including Broadway violinist, Gwen Laster, will lead a class while live musicians offer sound healing. This isn’t the only yoga and music collaboration; John Smrtic will lead a class while Ryan Montbleau performs live music from the Grateful Dead, Justin Wolfer will be accompanied by live drumming, and TaraLeigh Weathers will host a Blind Folded Dance Party with Funky Dawgz Brass Band.

VETERANS

MAYfest partnership with Veterans Yoga Project; a non-profit org that works to bring the healing powers of yoga to our vets and their families. A nationwide Memorial Day campaign to honor fallen troops will culminate at MAYfest during VYP’s Mindful Resilience Memorial Meditation Saturday morning. MAYfest is proud to offer a 20% Veterans’ discount to anyone who has served in the US armed forces.

Billed as “a homegrown Hudson Valley festival where everyone gets to go back to camp with the most amazing ‘counselors’ in the industry,” MAYfest is truly a community gathering place for everyone in the family. Tickets are currently available for the entire weekend, additional options for single class ticket and day passes will be released in the coming weeks. Children under 12 are offered a discounted ticket, and children under 5 are free with an adult.
