As you navigate the shows leading up to the New Year, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong is certainly a “Best Buy!” Their aggressive touring and high energy performances have earned them the greatly coveted gig of opening for the Disco Biscuits during the third night of their New York, New Year’s run at the Best Buy Theater. Biscuits fans are known for their dedication and enthusiasm, so it takes a band with the caliber of musicianship and entertainment value demonstrated by Pigeons to adequately capture the audience’s attention and build the hype for the evening ahead on December 28, 2013!
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong proved themselves more than worthy of the Biscuits crowd and even brought a flock of their own when they rocked City Bisco earlier this year. Several months of growth later, vocalists and guitarists Greg Ormont and Jeremy Schon, bassist and vocalist Ben Carrey, and drummer and vocalist Dan Schwartz are ready to do it again—this time as the only other band on the bill. There will be dancing, there will be grooving, and you may even find yourself nostalgic for top-notch summer performances as the band heats up the cold NY winter! We’re big fans of Pigeons’ Funk EP back from 2010, but additionally the tasty assortment of concert downloads available on their site reminds us live music is where it’s at! Have no doubts that the show taking place December 28th will have plenty of moments you won’t want to miss! Whether they rock old favorites like “Funk E. Zekiel” or throw in a cover, it’s safe to say they’ll be killing it in signature Pigeons style! Gigs with Biscuits, Kung Fu, Tauk, Dopapod and more as well as an already-packed 2014 tour schedule are testaments to their talent and you’re going to want to catch Pigeons Playing Ping Pong before they take full flight into 2014 (and as many times as possible next year, too)!
Besides the holiday season is better with the Rockwells! We’re not talking Norman, but rather David- the architect behind one of New York’s premier venues, Best Buy Theater. With a capacity of 2100 and a dazzling marquee, Best Buy Theater is prepared for several nights of Biscuits’ style raging so be sure to flock there on the 28th to catch the Pigeons set it off!
